“There was a sequel to Wizard of Oz?” I know, I hadn’t heard of it either, but Anchor Bay was releasing this 1985 gem and asked me to interview the movie’s star – Fairuza Balk. Now Fairuza I had heard of – she was incredible in movies like The Craft and Island of Dr. Moreau (1996, not 1977!) I arranged an interview with her and shot it in her manager’s offices. Fairuza was wonderful – full of anecdotes and very outgoing. The interview was a true joy. While it was a little off-topic, I HAD to ask her about working with Brando on Island of Dr. Moreau. I mean… what was he like? She said he was fine – although he would stay in his trailer for hours and crew members were too intimidated to ask if he was ready!
