Anchor Bay’s Jay Douglas hired me to direct & produce an exclusive documentary on their release of this iconic American horror film. I assembled a small LA crew and we interviewed producer and co-writer Debra Hill, production designer Tommy Lee Wallace (a hoot!), the ORIGINAL Michael Myers, Nick Castle, financier Moustapha Akkad, cinematographer Dean Cundey and others. Jamie Lee Curtis’ people were playing hard to get until Debra Hill graciously called her up and got me in! Jamie Lee was wonderful and very illuminating. The great Bill Lustig made some calls and we were able to interview John Carpenter in his office. The man is brilliant, a true artist and storyteller! We also shot some of the film’s Pasadena locations. It was on this project that I first worked with editor Paul Rosen who did a hero’s job putting together the film’s backstory over some late nights! Twisted Sister frontman and horror filmmaker Dee Snider provided the narration. He was a blast to work with. I am very proud of this project!
